Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. Hebrews 13:15 "The Fruit of Lips". What a very poetic way of describing the words that come out of our mouths. The Bible talks much about our words. Read the book of James where he references the power of our words, or as James puts it, "our tongue". The wise King Soloman referenced it this way in Proverbs 18:21. The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. We don't always choose our words wisely, but we should. As you wake up in the mornings, as you sip your coffee or tea, offer up some fruit of your lips to the one whe gave those lips to you. Thank him for a new day. Thank him for breath, for life. Exalt the name of Jesus, who washes away your sins. Acknowledging your creator in this way will give you the perspective you need to navigate the day. Be blessed my friends. March 5, 2025 A few weeks ago, during a Sunday morning service, I made the following comment: "It’s good to start well but it’s better to finish well”. Most of us have some regrets. I guess the older you get, the more you might have…. I wish I had made better financial decisions… I wish I had listened more and talked less…. I wish I had spent more time with my children/grandchildren… I wish I had helped my aging parents more… I wish I had helped my neighbor more… I wish I had taken that vacation… I wish I had gone to church more… I wish I had read the bible more… I wish I had, I wish I had…. The list can go on and on. The good news is, there is always the present, it’s a gift that God has given us. We may not be able to make all those wishes come true but we can start living our lives in a way to “Finish Well”. We don’t know when our expiration date is, so let’s be proactive in our service to God and to our family, friends and neighbors. Jesus summed it up in telling us the greatest commandment, to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and to love our neighbor as ourself. I guess that covers all the bases. Be blessed!
